The research, which consisted of data from 6,500 early AI adopters across 13 cities globally, also revealed that 51% of participants remained “hopeful” about how the tool can be applied in the future, compared to 49% who remained “fearful”.
Meanwhile, 37% added that they will have control over how the technology is used in their own lives.
Some 80% admitted to using AI to make “life-altering decisions”, such as buying a house or adopting a healthier lifestyle, meanwhile, many also believe AI can assist in educating and up-skilling children and help them secure good employment.
Ericsson Consumer & Industry Lab, Head of Research Agenda, Michael Björn said: “Consumer expectations are important as this also has implications on network traffic capabilities to handle related future data use per device.
”Another insight is the concern that early adopters have, including the biggest supporters of AI, about the future control of AI in their personal lives. This shows a need for companies working with AI to address the concerns of consumers as they develop solutions.”
