Alien Dalvik Brings Android to the Car

The Myriad Group has announced that it is in talks with companies in the automotive industry, with the aim of building the Android OS into cars.

The company launched Alien Dalvik, a platform for running Android on a wider range of devices, at Mobile World Congress in February this year, and Myriad believes the automotive industry could make use of the range of Android apps in the car.

“The automotive industry is coming to terms with the idea that it needs to move faster, shortening product cycles in order to keep up with innovation in consumer electronics,” says Benoit Schillings, CTO of Myriad Group. “Myriad Alien Dalvik is a win-win for the automotive industry, giving customers immediate access to new services tailored for travelling such as interactive maps and guides. Also, manufacturers can be confident their choice of operating system for in-vehicle ICE systems will provide a rich experience – straight out-of-the-box.”

The company says that drivers will be able to experience the same level of functionality in their car as they do now on their smartphone.
