Amber acquires game studio Madbricks

Video game development agency, Amber, has acquired Colombian game studio Madbricks, for an undisclosed sum.

As a result, the acquisition is the first step in Amber’s new strategy to promote a collaborative approach to co-development, aiming to expand its global team by integrating external studios, it said.

Madbricks has specialised in co-development and full development across various genres and platforms for the past decade.

Over this period, the studio has grown to approximately 40 employees and successfully released games on all major platforms, including mobile, PC and consoles, establishing itself as a prominent player in Colombia and South America’s emerging gaming market.

Meanwhile, this acquisition also builds on the successful partnership between the two companies, as Amber and Madbricks have previously partnered on several projects.

Amber CEO, Mihai Pohonțu, said: “We were impressed by the dedication and professionalism of the Madbricks team during our past collaboration, so this acquisition is a natural next step in our relationship. Emerging markets are part of our DNA, and Madbricks will solidify our presence in the South American games industry landscape.

Madbricks CEO, Miguel Benavides, added: “For Madbricks, becoming part of Amber means bigger projects and the opportunity to learn from a developed organisation like Amber.

“We pride ourselves on our ability to generate a fast-paced high production value pipeline, and we believe that joining Amber, with its vast, global resources, will tighten our efficiency even further and allow us to fully realise our vision for the company and local industry.”
