Best Buy Canada Selects i-nigma

Best Buy Canada has chosen 3GVision’s i?nigma solution to barcode?enable its home and in?store mobile shopping experience. Using the latest version of the Best Buy iPhone app, customers can scan mobile barcodes and instantly browse, research and confirm availability of any product.

Shoppers in-store are using mobile barcodes to access relevant information such as reviews, feature lists and special deals, as well as to complete the purchase online. The Best Buy iPhone app was updated to allow scanning of QR codes as well as standard EAN shopping barcodes using the i?nigma mobile barcode reader SDK.

“Products already include visible barcodes, so why not let our customers use them to directly access product reviews, product specifications and accessories,” says Robert Pearson, vice president of eCommerce at Best Buy Canada. “We looked to offer the best customer experience also for mobile barcode scanning. This is why we chose the i?nigma solution.”

3GVision CEO Mendy Mendelsohn says that Best Buy’s adoption of mobile barcodes highlights the relevance of the technology to its millions of customers. “This can be seen also through the staggering growth of mobile barcode scanning in N. America, and Canada in particular, 950 per cent over the last two quarters,” says Mendelsohn.
