Nexmo has raised $18m in Series C funding to expand its suite of communications APIs and scale its distribution channels.
The company’s platform is used by top global OTT providers like Line, Viber, KakaoTalk, as well as app companies like Airbnb and Hailo, to enable in-app messages direct to handsets. It already offers its services in more than 200 countries.
Nexmo calls itself a ‘friendly disruptor’ in the teleco industry, as it is ‘removing barriers between carriers and enterprises’. “By doing this, Nexmo is creating an ultra-efficient ecosystem between wireless carriers and enterprises,” a spokesperson said.
The round was led by Sorenson Capital, with participation from its existing investors, Intel Capital and NHN Investment.
