David Sear Leaves Weve CEO Position

_DSC0229David Sear has stepped down as CEO of Weve, the mobile marketing joint venture between UK operators EE, O2 and Vodafone, after less than 18 months in the role.

“We can confirm that our CEO, David Sear, has accepted a new role and will be leaving Weve in due course,” reads the official statement. “David will continue to lead Weve through the transition and at this busy and successful time for the company. We have no further details to share at this stage and will be making details of our new CEO public in due course.”

Weves spokesperson that, after Sear hands over to his successor, he will be taking up a similar role, though outside of the company – but wasnt able to give us any further details except that this will be announced later this month.

Weve opened at the end of 2012, with its mobile messaging business following shortly afterwards. Earlier this year, it launched a display ad offering, and announced the first details of its plans for mobile payments, due in 2015, and beacon-based loyalty, which has been trialled by retail partner EAT.
