DAZN rolls out Direct Carrier Billing payment option in Germany and Switzerland

Global sports streaming service DAZN, has expanded its payment options to enable customers to pay for their subscription via their mobile phone bill.

DAZN has collaborated with Telefónica Germany (O2) and Swisscom to enable Direct Carrier Billing, a faster and easier way for customers in Germany and Switzerland to sign up to its sports service. The move is designed to further simplify and streamline the customer experience and launches with the return of many live sports to DAZN, including the Bundesliga German top-tier football league.

DAZN’s payment options currently include all major credit and debit cards, Paypal, Klarna and prepaid gift cards. Customers can also register and pay via the AppleApp Store, Google Play, and Amazon Fire TV through in-app purchases.

“Our customers have clearly told us how they enjoy the speed, simplicity and convenience of paying for digital entertainment through their mobile phone – and so we are thrilled to collaborate with global leaders, Telefónica Germany (O2), Swisscom and Boku to enable this feature for them,” said Ben King, SVP global Distribution and business development at DAZN. “We expect this to be the first of many operator payment partnerships in Europe and globally as we continue our mission to build the world’s most affordable and accessible sports service for fans.”

The initiative forms part of the ‘DAZN for Operators’ partnership programme via which DAZN collaborates with the world’s leading mobile carriers, broadband ISPs and pay TV operators. The programme works to make live sport streaming more accessible for fans, while enabling partners to build stronger, more valuable and long-lasting relationships with their customers through the mass appeal of live sport.
