Donky Brings Rich HTML5 Content to In-app Inboxes

donky inbox_for_email_v2Developer network Donky has launched an SDK that enables the creation of mobile and web app inboxes that can receive rich HTML5 content, as well as the tools to create and distribute this content.

The module include a built-in highly customisable UI enabling developers and marketers to reach users with powerful, engaging content that is personalised to their brand, without the need to use email.

“Typically, brands wanting to engage with their mobile or web app communities using richer, more engaging content resort to email,” said Paul Putman, CEO of Donky. “However, there has been very little technological development of email over the last 15-20 years, which causes massive drawbacks when it comes to interacting with those who are used to the latest app technology and trends such as embedded video or animations.”

The SDK includes functions for notifications, content sharing via social networks, email or SMS, content expiry and high impact visual content that can include features like tracking code, ad network code or custom layouts. The user inbox can be customised to match and app and configured within the SDK to meet an apps needs for specific behaviours, giving the brand complete control over what the inbox and messages look like.

“We therefore wanted to bring the capabilities of HTML5 to in-app messaging to enable engaging content delivery, whatever the platform, as an alternative to email,” said Putman. “This could be the beginning of the end for email communication as we know it!”
