EA is bringing The Sims to Android and iOS

The Sims MobileThe Sims is set to be making its way to mobile, with the launch of an Android and iOS version of the popular life simulator ‘coming soon’.

The Sims Mobile appears to stay true to the PC format of the Electronic Arts (EA) game series that has been going strong for 17 years. However, there will be added social elements with players able to interact with others playing the game.

“Shape your Sims’ families over multiple generations,” EA says on its website. “When your Sims accomplish their career goals and retire, you’ll be rewarded with Heirlooms that unlock hobbies and careers for future generations, allowing new Sims to tell deeper stories.

Though EA has yet to announced an official release date in most markets, the game has already launched in Brazil, so it shouldn’t be too long until it’s available globally.

This isn’t the first time that The Sims has made its way to mobile, yet EA’s previous two attempts weren’t very successful.

The Sims FreePlay arrived in 2011 to mobile with the hope of replicating the enormous success of the original game but failed to do so, only lasting until 2013. A similar fate was suffered by The Sims Social, which launched on Facebook in 2011 before also closing in 2013.
