Egencia Teams up with Uber and Citymapper on Business Travel App

Expedia has connected popular travel apps Uber and Citymapper to its Egencia TripNavigator app.

Egencia, Expedias business travel brand, has tied the popular minicab and urban travel-planning apps to its app, in a move it says will ease the frustrations of the “last mile” of business travel – when users have arrived at their destination city and have to navigate to their exact location in a new city.

The company says that users of the app now see ground transport options at every stage of the journey, with the option to hop in an Uber car, walk, or take public transport. These options automatically use the address of the travellers next destination to guide the way.

Michael Gulmann, VP of global product and marketing at Egencia, says: “Business travellers turn to Egencia for end-to-end booking solutions. By partnering with trusted mobile apps we provide personalised options for getting around, right within Egencia TripNavigator. We are committed to exploring technology solutions to help travellers with the challenges they face: busy schedules, complying with corporate policy and staying efficient without wasting time wandering around or waiting in lines.”

Max Crowley, Uber for Business lead, says Ubers involvement with Egencia should alleviate some of the stress of business travel. “Often business travellers can feel ‘lost in transit’ when they arrive in a new city,” he says. “With the Uber and Egencia TripNavigator integration, they can easily navigate a new destination and have the peace of mind that a reliable ride is just a tap away.”
