Facebook begins enabling creators to take more control of their images

Facebook is giving creators and publishers more control over the images that they own and how these images are used across the platform.

Rights Manager for Images builds on the Rights Manager in Creator Studio, which enables creators and publishers to better control the ways in which their content is spread across Facebook and Instagram. This newer version of Rights Manager uses image matching technology to enable creators to protect and manage their image content at scale.

In order to access Rights Manager, page admins can submit an application for the images they’ve created and want to protect, and the tool will find matching content on Facebook and Instagram.

“We want to ensure Facebook is a safe and valuable place for creators to share their content,” said Dave Axelgard, Product Manager for Creator and Publisher Experience at Facebook. “That’s why we built tools like Rights Manager in Creator Studio to help creators and publishers who have a large or growing catalog of content better control when, how and where their content is shared across Facebook and Instagram. Today, we are introducing Rights Manager for Images.”
