FX is using AR to let fans become detectives during the upcoming new season of Archer

To support the upcoming eighth season of its highly successful adult animated spy sitcom Archer, FX Networks has launched an AR app that gives fans the chance to get involved in the detective work.

Once the new season – entitled Archer: Dreamland – begins to air on 5 April on FX’s sister network FXX, fans will be able to use their device’s camera in the Archer, P.I. app during episodes to bring to life certain areas of the screen with clues. In addition, outside of episodes, fans will be able to find additional clues on places like billboards, TV commercials, the Archer Facebook page, and on FXNetworks.com. Throughout the game, Archer himself provides a helping hand.

Archer, P.I. is available to download from the Play Store and App Store.

FX isn’t afraid of using modern technologies to promote its shows. It recently promoted a VR-themed episode of its US sitcom It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia through a four minute VR mini-episode that followed the popular black comedy’s usual tone.
