Taxi booking service GetTaxi has rebranded to Gett – the same name it adopted for its US launch in 2013 – as its app expands beyond just taxis, and into delivery of products and services.
“Think Gett Pizza, Gett Sushi, Gett Grocery, Gett Wine, Gett Flowers, Gett Dry Cleaning and Gett Plumber,” said Gett CEO Shahar Waiser.
The news comes as rival taxi firm Uber announces it has expanded its food delivery service, UberEATS, to two more cities. Having previously piloted in in LA (as UberFRESH) and Barcelona, UberEATS is also now available in Chicago and New York City.
The service enables locals to order food from a daily menu in the Uber app. The food is then delivered by Ubers current fleet of drivers, with Uber promising a delivery time of 10 minutes or less.
