Wrapp has released its social gifting app in the UK. Wrapp, for iOS and Android, enables users to give gift cards via SMS, email or Facebook. UK retail partners – including, at launch, ASOS, Fitness First, and Pizza Express – will offer a limited number of free daily gift cards, which can then be topped up by the gift giver, or the recipients Facebook friends.
“We’ve enjoyed good results with Wrapp in Sweden, so being part of Wrapp’s start in the UK was a natural next step,” says Mark Gregory, UK managing director of retail partner Clas Ohlson. “We’ve been using Wrapp to reward our loyal customers as well as promoting new store openings. Customers enjoy giving their friends free gift cards and they appreciate the convenience of using their phones to redeem them.” 
Wrapp was founded last year by Hjalmar Winbladh and a small team of entrepreneurs in Sweden, including Andreas Ehn, Spotify’s founding CTO; Carl Fritjofsson, strategy advisor to Groupon.se; Aage Reerslev, founder of mobile browser Squace; and Fabian Mansson, former CEO of H&M and Eddie Bauer.
