Twitter, Path, Evernote and The New York Times are all working on projects for Google Glass, according to a blog post by John Doerr from Kleiner Perkins where he announced the firms backing of the platform.
Google Ventures has created the Glass Collective with fellow VC funders at Andreessen Horowitz and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers to provide seed funding for entrepreneurs working with Google Glass.
John Doerr, partner at KPCB, said: “New platforms are rare, but can be transformational, when they’re based on great products with robust APIs, powerful distribution and outstanding entrepreneurs. Smartphones put the web in our pockets. Glass puts the web where we want it the most: right before our very eyes.”
KPCB knows a thing or two about backing new and subsequently successful platforms, having been a funder of both Twitter and Path.
Bill Maris, VP at Google Ventures, added: “Smart entrepreneurs and engineers are going to develop amazing experiences through Glass. If you’ve been mulling over a brilliant idea for Glass, let us know.”
People with an idea can simply email KPCB.
