Grab joins forces with oBike, bringing GrabPay to bike sharing and more

GrabRide hailing company Grab has agreed to join forces with oBike to bring GrabPay to the bike sharing firm’s app – the first of several link-ups the pair have agreed to over the coming weeks and months.

With the integration of GrabPay into the oBike app, riders have been provided with another cashless payment option to cover the rental of bikes and can also earn GrabReward points. This part of the agreement will also see Grab branding appear alongside oBike’s on the dockless two-wheelers around Southeast Asia, reports Tech in Asia.

The two companies are yet to announce what other initiatives they have planned, but it is likely one will include the integration of oBike’s services into the Grab app.

If oBike does integrate into the Grab app, it will follow a similar integration in China last week – where Uber China owner Didi Chuxing launched a bike sharing platform within its app, integrating the services provided by Bluegogo and Ofo.

Grab has also signed a three-year memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) with the promise of extending GrabPay to tourist hotspots, understanding the behavioural patterns of visitors better, providing better access to travel information, and offering more solutions for business travellers.
