Heathrow launches Mr Men Little Miss AR experience across its airport

Heathrow Mr Men Little Miss Heathrow has introduced an AR experience across its airport with the help of UK-based AR company Ads Reality and popular children’s books series Mr Men Little Miss.

Through the Around the World with Mr. Adventure AR app, children can use a smartphone camera to find one of five digital badges around Heathrow. By successfully finding a badge, children are played a 3D animated video and given the opportunity to photo and video themselves with Mr. Adventure and the series’ latest character Little Miss Explorer. If they find all five badges, they can collect an iron-on badge to keep from information desks around the airport.

“As summer sees a greater number of families visit Heathrow, we want to ensure they receive the best possible start to their holiday adventures,” said Iona Harper, senior experience manager at Heathrow. “The Mr. Adventure app is a great, fun experience for Heathrow’s tiniest travellers, encouraging discovery for the next generation of explorers.”

Ads Reality will use its technology to enable Heathrow to see how many markers in each terminal are triggered by users, which terminal has the most interactions, and how the experiences are shared on social media.

“This is a fun and interactive experience that we’re rolling out with Heathrow and a chance for the airport to drive engagement and fun for passengers,” said Richard Corps, MD & co-founder of Ads Reality. “We’re delighted that Heathrow sees the benefits of augmented reality to the customers they serve, and it’s a great example of a large company looking at innovative technology to drive an exciting customer experience.”
