The number of Windows Phone 7 apps emerging at the moment is a curious thing. After all, with the launch of Windows Phone 8, the platform is becoming essentially obselete. And yet brands seem to keep launching apps for it – the latest of which is Hip Hotels.
Developed by agency Isobar Mobile, the app enables users the chance to choose from the global chain of hotels, with detailed info on each, including high-res photographs taken specifically, befitting the luxury reputation of the brand.
Instead of the standard-issue social integration, Isobar has opted to link the app up with Pinterest, enabling users to repin the hotels images on their boards.
“With the Hip Hotels app, we have developed an effective mobile platform that reflects a luxury brand in an engaging way,” said Tim Dunn, head of strategy at Isobar. “We went beyond development and took the deliberate strategy to promote the app on Pinterest, which is a natural fit for the visual power of the app. Connecting the app with Pinterest will allow us to gauge key data about how much traffic Pinterest actually drives to a website.”
