IBM Commits to MobileFirst with New Tools for Business

IBM has unveiled its MobileFirst development portfolio to help companies streamline their business practices using mobile as the primary channel. Everything from managing company devices to creating secure enterprise-grade apps will now be offered to its customers.

The company has also announced a number of new relationships to drive the adoption of these services. IBM has incorporated AT&T’s developer platform into its portfolio so it can offer enhanced payment and communications services in the apps created. IBM is also working with Daegu Health College, a health training college in South Korea, to design and deploy apps to meet the growing mobile demands of its students.

“To date, mobile computing has been dominated by discussions of new smartphones, operating systems, games and apps,” said Robert LeBlanc, senior vice president of middleware software at IBM. “But enterprises have yet to tap into the potential of mobile business. Just as the Internet transformed the way we bank, book vacations and manage our healthcare, mobile computing is also transforming industries.

“As these devices become ingrained in everything that we do, businesses are now in the palms of their customers’ hands. IBM MobileFirst is designed to make the transformation to becoming a mobile enterprise a reality.”
