Just Eat buys PoS software service Practi

Just Eat iPad PoSOnline food delivery marketplace Just Eat has acquired Practi, a software service that provides independent restaurants and small chains with tablet-based Point of Sale (PoS) and restaurant management systems. The acquisition cost an initial £6.7m with further payments dependent on the business achieving ‘certain commercial milestones.

Just Eat hopes the acquisition will strengthen its partnership with restaurant partners by either deploying new tablets or by incorporating Practi’s software on its orderpads. In doing so, Just Eat will cover all bases for its partners, providing PoS, cash and card payment handling, inventory management, kitchen operation and employee management systems within a single software package across devices.

Practi’s founder, Ohad Folman and Edan Folman, will continue to be a part of the company.

“We are very excited about the acquisition of Practi. We found that many of our restaurant partners were calling for this type of software to help manage their businesses,” said Peter Duffy, interim CEO at Just Eat. “It will play a vital role in supporting small and medium sized restaurants as it transforms how they run their restaurants and deliver the best service for customers through Just Eat.”

The acquisition builds on Just Eat’s acquisition of hospitality solutions company Flyt earlier this year. The food delivery marketplace paid £22m to bring in the firm and now uses it to connect the Just Eat platform to restaurant chains’ existing PoS systems.
