KitKat revives Blockbuster to celebrate launch of sharing bars

KitKat has brought back the 90s video rental store Blockbuster to celebrate the debut of its sharing bars.

At the pop-up store, visitors can pick a movie by choosing an empty VHS case, which will come with a streaming code and a free KitKat sharing bar.

The bars are available in three flavors: double chocolate, salted caramel, and hazelnut.

From April 9th to 12th, Brits are invited to take a break from their daily routines and revisit a simpler time.

Almost a quarter of Brits (22%) have nostalgic memories of picking movies in-store, which makes it no surprise that Blockbuster was ranked among the top 5 most missed high-street stores by Brits.

New research from KitKat reveals that stressed-out Brits are reaching their breaking point due to their inability to disconnect, with a third (35%) blaming their phones.

Additionally, 3 in 10 people report feeling uneasy and anxious when their phone is out of reach, and nearly three-quarters (73%) say it’s straining their relationships.

Stephanie Scales, Marketing Manager for KitKat at Nestlé UK & Ireland, said: “It’s more important than ever to stay connected with others in today’s hectic world.

“Whether it’s with friends, family or loved ones, we want to take the nation back to when times were simpler and reclaim the joy of picking out a movie to watch together.

“By KitKat sharing bars partnering with Blockbuster to take cosy nights in together to another level, we hope that we can help Brits properly savour their downtime and break better.”
