Lyft partners with Taco Bell to satisfy those late-night munchies

Lyft Taco BellLyft is the latest ride hailing app to team up with a well-known fast food chain, after Uber’s delivery platform UberEats teamed up with McDonald’s to bring a home delivery service to the UK.

Uber’s US rival has linked up with Taco Bell to give riders the opportunity to add a stop at the popular US Tex-Mex to their journey, if they’ve got those late-night munchies. Through the ‘Taco Mode’ feature, passengers travelling between 9pm and 2am PT will have the ability to request that their driver stops off at Taco Bell along the way.

“We enjoy bringing new experiences to life for our passengers, and Taco Mode allows them to extend the night in a way that hasnt been done before,” said Melissa Waters, head of marketing at Lyft. “Were combining two of our passengers favourite activities – a night out with friends and enjoying Taco Bell – which means there is even more of the night to love.”

The feature will begin testing in Orange County, California from 27 July to 29 July and 3 August to 5 August 2017. The pair hope to expand the mode to into additional markets by the end of the year before a nationwide rollout in 2018.
