Cheil
Richard Newman has joined Cheil as Asia Pacific Regional chief growth officer. Newman joins from McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific where he was Regional chief marketing officer.

Based out of Singapore, Newman will be responsible for implementing and honing regional growth strategies, as well as building a culture of collaboration across Cheil’s global network of companies including Cheil Worldwide, Iris Worldwide, Cheil Peng Tai, BMB, McKinney, and The Barbarian Group.

He will report into Aaron Lau, president of international and Lotta Malm-Hallqvist, global vice president.

SpotX
SpotX has appointed Marcus S Tan as managing director, JAPAC, to lead the company’s expansion into new Asian markets and build new partnerships in cross-screen video and programmatic linear TV.

Tan’s two decades of advertising technology experience span both traditional broadcast and new digital media. Most recently, he was PubMatic’s head of high growth solutions in JAPAC, and previously, he built a successful Asian operation from the ground up for Smaato as managing director, APAC.

Tan will focus on bringing programmatic video, SpotX’s modern ad server and data-driven buying to mobile, connected TV and linear TV – technologies which are still largely nascent in many countries across the Asian region.

SpotX, which recently rebranded to reflect its evolution from a video ad exchange to a complete video ad management platform, lets publishers and broadcasters monetise video on all screens programmatically, as well as with data-driven direct sales. The company’s platform also enables advertisers to insert video ad placements into connected TV environments, including Apple’s tvOS, mobile apps and web pages that don’t have supporting video content.

BullGuard
Internet and mobile security firm BullGuard has announced the appointment of security industry veteran Paul Lipman as CEO. Lipman’s brief is to accelerate the success that BullGuard has had to date, through investment in new opportunities that will fuel growth in the coming year.

Lipman brings extensive security market experience to BullGuard. Most recently he was CEO at iSheriff, a recognized innovator in cloud-based security for the enterprise market. Prior to that, Lipman was CEO of Total Defense, which pioneered unlimited subscription services for consumers, and was acquired by Untange in 2014. Lipman also led Webroot’s global consumer business for three years, where he doubled revenue and transformed the company from a single product business to a broad-based market leader.

Informatica
Data software company Informatica has appointed Anil Chakravarthy as CEO, while Bruce Chizen has been named executive chairman.

Chakravarthy has served as acting CEO since Informatica went private in August 2015. Under his leadership, Informatica has delivered several significant product releases including the most important platform release in the company’s history – Informatica v10 and Informatica Big Data Management.

Chakravarthy joined Informatica in September 2013 as executive vice president and chief product officer. Prior to Informatica, he held leadership roles at Symantec Corporation for nearly a decade, and before that, held roles at VeriSign and McKinsey & Company.

Chizen has been on the Informatica board since August. He will work closely with the leadership team on strategic priorities and serve as an ambassador for the company.
