Nintendo to shut down Switch online services

Nintendo has revealed plans to discontinue its online store and services for the Switch in China by the end of May 2026.

According to Eurogamer, which first reported the news, the process will start with the end of digital game sales on the eShop on March 31, 2026. Free trials will also no longer be available after this date.

From May 15, 2026, Switch users in China will lose the ability to redeem codes, download software, and access all other network-related services.

Nintendo has not provided a reason for this decision.

To support Chinese Switch owners during this transition, Nintendo is offering up to four free games, which can be redeemed between November 27, 2024, and March 31, 2026.

The selection includes 12 titles, such as Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!
