Oracle Previews App Development Framework

Oracle has previewed the next generation Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF) Mobile, an extension of the Oracle Application Development Framework.

Part of Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle ADF Mobile enables native and web functionality to be deployed in the same mobile application.

The latest capabilities are designed to simplify mobile application development, letting developers write applications once and deploy to multiple device platforms, including Apple iOS mobile devices.

Oracle ADF Mobile also allows developers to easily extend enterprise applications to mobile channels and can provide deep and complete access to a mobile devices native capabilities, says the company.

“As developers increasingly work on more sophisticated mobile business applications they need tools that will help them quickly and easily deploy native and web functionality to mobile devices,” says Ted Farrell, chief architect and senior vice president of Tools and Middleware, Oracle. “Oracle ADF Mobile continues to enhance developer productivity, bringing together capabilities that significantly simplify mobile application development, while also helping to ensure that enterprise applications can be easily extended to mobile channels.”

The framework update was previewed at the Oracle OpenWorld 2011 conference in San Francisco, which closes today.
