Outside Line Makes Outside App

Creative agency Outside Line has created an app for Arla Foods that aims to encourage young people to enjoy the outdoors.

The app is part of Arla Foodss Kids Closer to Nature campaign, and has been delivered in partnership with the Forestry Commission.

Available for iPhone, the app is designed to get adults and children alike to explore nature through a series of games and outdoor challenges. The app also allows users to search for the nearest green space using postcode searches or geolocation features on the device. Using the Forestry Commissions data, the app delivers a list of parks and green spaces, including facilities such as parking, disabled access and toilets.

“Arla Foods challenged us to design and develop an iPhone app which seamlessly marries the concept of the campaign with the latest in smartphone innovations, and I believe we have produced something really exceptional in response,” says Outside Line director Ant Cauchi. “The app allows families to use their iPhones to enhance their experience of the great outdoors and encourage children to engage with nature, appreciate the beauty of green spaces and, perhaps most importantly, have fun in the fresh air and open space.”

Chris Packham, TV naturalist and Kids Closer to Nature ambassador, says: “I am a strong advocate of encouraging young people to get outdoors where they can engage with nature first-hand and get their hands dirty. So I am really excited by Arla Foods Kids Closer to Nature iPhone app, which I think it is an innovative way to inspire children and their families to take advantage of all the fantastic green spaces that are right on their doorsteps.”
