Pinterest expands its skin tone range tool to more countries

Pinterest has expanded its skin tone range search tool to 13 more countries around the world, enabling more of its users to refine their beauty-related searches based on skin tone.

The inspiration-focused platform launched the feature in the US a few years ago, before bringing the feature to the UK last year. Now, users in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Netherlands, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia will also have access to the tool.

Pinterest has also integrated its ‘Try on’ feature with its skin tone range tool, so users can see similar lip shades and eye shadow on skin tones that match their own.

According to the platform, it has seen users using the skin tone range feature to discover beauty ideas increase by five times over the past year.

“Our mission at Pinterest is to inspire everyone to create a life they love. With that in mind, building a globally inclusive platform where you can see yourself represented is a top priority for us,” said Tyi McCray, Global Head of Inclusion and Diversity at Pinterest. “We want all of our Pinners around the world to discover ideas that feel personalised, relevant and reflective of who they are. Expanding skin tone ranges to additional countries around the world will help to surface ideas that speak to everyone and drive positive change.”
