Popular Art Exhibition uses Beacons to give Art Lovers Exclusive Content

Artes Mundi 1Artes Mundi, an international biennial contemporary art exhibition and prize held in Wales, has launched an app, in partnership tech innovation company Electric Beach, with content exclusive to visitors to the exhibition – via a Bluetooth beacons.

The beacon-enabled app enables visitors to the National Museum Cardiff and Chapter Arts Centre to access interactive content. It uses 40 beacons throughout the event to deliver content to visitors attending both locations, and on their journey in between the two. Content is said to be continuously updated throughout the exhibition – running 26 February.

“The app, created in partnership with tech innovation company Electric Bench, aims to encourage visitors to engage with the art works and challenge how we ‘face’ exhibitions,” said the official release. “The exclusive artistic content is available offline, providing a virtual experience of the exhibition that can be enjoyed and relived anywhere, any time. The app will also allow Artes Mundi to collect data on which of the art works are more popular, and which beacons have been triggered the most.”
