Ross Kemp stars in Smart Energy GB’s smart meter push

Smart Energy GB has introduced a new campaign encouraging consumers to switch to a smart meter for better management of their overall energy use.

Created by the creative agency AMV BBDO, the campaign features Ross Kemp visiting homes across the country to see how satisfied people are with their smart meters.

In the final moments of the ad, Kemp is joined by Albert Einstein, the brand’s ambassador, who confirms that, according to a nationwide survey, four out of five people are pleased with their smart meter.

AMV BBDO creative duo, Tim Riley and Ant Eagle, commented: “Everyone knows Ross as a fearless investigator. Now he boldly goes down the leafy streets of the UK to uncover the truth about smart meters – and it’s good news.”

Produced by BlinkInk and directed by Fred Rowson, the campaign will be shown across TV, video-on-demand, press, social media, digital, and radio channels.

Smart Energy GB noted that the campaign’s goal is to highlight the benefits of smart meter installation, emphasising easier budgeting and cost savings.

Smart Energy GB director of marketing, Chris Taggart, said: “There is no one better than Ross Kemp to get to the truth. And his light touch humour shows the human side of the simple truth that most people are happy with their smart meters.

“This complements our ads with Angela Rippon, also running, where Angela shows how we can take advantage of energy rewards schemes and get access to cheaper off-peak energy, thanks to a smart meter.”
