Rovio partners with Chicago Bulls for “Angry Birds Eye View Cam”

Rovio Entertainment has teamed up with six-time NBA champions the Chicago Bulls to unveil a new brand partnership that will see the Angry Birds Eye View Cam installed on top of both backboards at Chicago Bulls home games.

For the 2018-19 NBA season, games played at United Center in Chicago will boast dynamic live footage from above the rim, courtesy of the new cameras. Angry Birds branding will appear alongside the camera, as well as on LED screens on the side of each basket.

“Each season the Bulls look forward to providing our fans with new exciting elements that enhance the game experience, whether its in the arena or on broadcast,” said Matthew Kobe, vice president of business strategy and analytics for the Chicago Bulls. “Through our new partnership with Angry Birds, fans around the world will get to see never-before-seen views from a new Angry Birds Eye View camera placed above the backboard of each basket.”

In addition to the new camera, several unique VIP Angry Bulls experiences will be provided for fans at Bulls home games throughout the season, and both Rovio and Chicago Bulls will be promoting the new partnership via their social media channels.

“As huge fans of basketball and fellow Finn Lauri Markkanen, were thrilled to team up with the Chicago Bulls this season,” said Ville Heijari, chief marketing officer at Rovio Entertainment. “Uniting the Angry Birds brand with one of the NBAs most legendary franchises demonstrates Rovios continuing commitment to strategically building the brand in the United States by growing our impressive lineup of partners and bringing one-of-a-kind experience to our fans.”

At the moment, no plans have been announced for Chicago Bulls content to appear in any of Rovios digital properties in the same way that previous partners like Everton FC and Iron Maiden have appeared in various Angry Birds apps, but speaking on the possibility of such a crossover, Heijari added that “we are just in the beginning of this new relationship. We are both open to all types of ways to extend the relationship.”
