Samsung Pay to Launch in India in Partnership with American Express

Samsung has reportedly partnered with American Express to bring the Samsung Pay mobile payment solution to India during the first half of 2017.
According to Mashable, a source familiar with the matter has confirmed that the Pay feature will be introduced in India – following the rollout of the Android 7.0 Nougat update in India, which features the Samsung Pay app and a notification saying: “The future of payments is coming soon!”
It is reported that Samsung may also explore opportunities to partner Visa and MasterCard in India. Samsung already partners American Express in regions including the US, Australia and South Korea already – partnering with Visa and MasterCard in other regions.
This news follows on from Samsung’s announcement that it will be introducing mobile web payments to Android smartphones in South Korea during the first quarter of this year. Samsung Pay Mini enables Android devices to make online payments, after downloading a dedicated app.
