Skyscanner has launched its first global 360-marketing campaign. It parodies quirky power-users who harness ‘The Ultimate Travel Hack’ to find amazing travel deals. These include a Travel Magician, an Analog Travel Agent, a quirky Deal Collecting Couple and a Private Travel Hacker for the wealthy and well-travelled. The Travel Magician is a failed magician who now uses Skyscanner to astound his audiences with his stage presence, sleight of hand and outrageous travel deals. The Analog Travel Agent is surrounded by dusty fax machines and floppy disks, but is still able to find his baffled clients unbelievable deals to amazing places with ease thanks to Skyscanner.
Created by Little Big Engine and Skyscanner’s in-house Brand Studio, the irreverent campaign hopes to capture the travel company’s playful sensibilities and quirky humour. It is running across TV, out of home and digital, including paid TikTok assets, with a particular focus on Canadian and Australian audiences.
“We’ve always put the traveller first in everything we do since day one and this year marks our 20th anniversary, so we wanted to create something special,” said Skyscanner’s Executive Creative Director, Andre Le Masurier. “Exploring, planning and booking travel should be fun, and we wanted to reflect the joy of finding your next great trip with rich, memorable character worlds that entertain and reward curiosity. I think advertising and the world could use a little more humour and unexpected quirkiness.”
Skyscanner has also launched a partnership with Exceptional Alien to further support travellers in Canada and Australia with a collection of under-the-radar travel guides curated by world-class creators and cultural icons. These include Stuntman Nash Edgerton’s take on finding creative inspiration in Sydney. Veteran National Geographic photographer Michael Yamashita’s recommendations for an off-the-beaten-path foodie tour in some of NYC’s top boroughs. A walk through the cobbled streets of Paris with Fashion designer Camille Tanoh (aka The Proper Kid). And Artist and Illustrator Joey Yu’s walking tour through some of London’s best parks, cafés and local gems. The content also includes insider pro tips, tools and travel hacks from Skyscanner ambassadors and staff. The experience will be exclusively available on skyscanner.ca and skyscanner.com.au from 24 August for three months.
