Social First raises $4.2m in funding

Social First has secured $4.2 million in a seed funding round.

The round was led by Crowberry Capital, with additional contributions from Business Finland and an increased investment from Play Ventures, the original pre-seed investor.

As a result, the funds will be used to develop an upcoming untitled cross-platform social MMO game, which is expected to launch later this year.

Crowberry Capital Founding Partner Hekla Arnardóttir, said: “We are incredibly impressed with Social First team’s extensive experience.

“Their early release numbers have shown enviable traction, reflecting their deep understanding of social games.

Arnardóttir, continued: “We are excited to back them through their early launch and look forward to seeing them redefine the social gaming landscape.”

Social First was established in late 2021 by former Kukouri executives Kim Soares and Mikko Kähärä. The studio currently consists of 20 industry veterans with experience at companies such as Ubisoft, Rovio, and Paradox Interactive.
