Stannp.com is giving away 1m glossy postcards to celebrate the launch of the Stannp.com postcard app.
The free iOS app enables users to take a picture, add effects and/or text and then share the picture on Facebook, via email or as a postcard, arriving the next day via Royal Mail first class post.
New users get one free hard-copy postcard. Printed cards are then sold on a sliding scale according to the volume purchased. It costs £1.99 to buy one credit which enables you to send one card to a UK address, though the price falls to £1.39 per credit if you buy 10 credits, or £0.99 per credit if you buy 50. Cards ordered before 2pm will be dispatched in that days post. The cards are printed on a 350gsm Trucard with a laminate finish.
“We developed the app to help people share photos with overlaid text either on Facebook, via email or on glossy hi-res picture postcards,” said Stannp.com managing director, Sam Heaton. “This 1m postcard giveaway will introduce people to the next generation free-to-download app that helps everyone share important photos from everyday life.” 
Heaton adds that the main users will be people on holiday taking snaps and turning them into postcards. “Most hotels these days have free wi-fi (Do they? News to me – Ed.) so you can just hook into that and order the card, and not worry about expensive roaming charges,” said Heaton.
Android and Windows 8 versions of the app are due for release in November.
