TekTrak has launched an Android version of its TekTrak mobile security app. The app is designed to locate lost phones, and also offers remote data wipe features to prevent a thief accessing sensitive data.
There are two versions of the software. A free TekTrak Lite version gives users two free uses of the service, while TekTrak Pro costs $4.99 and gives subscribers unlimited use of the features.
Once a user has downloads the app and registers it with the TekTrak website, the app allows them to track the location of their phone, view location history, and set of a remote ring function even if the phone is set to silent. Other key features include the ability to remotely lock and unlock the phone, and the app also offers partial or full data wipe, including a full factory reset.
There is also a Multilock feature which prevents unauthorised users deleting TekTrak.
“TekTrak works in real time to find missing phones and secure private data,” says Arik Waldman, CEO of TekTrak. “After misplacing a phone, a user can quickly log in to the TekTrak web site, and view the phones exact location on a street map, lock the phone, and wipe it if necessary. If the phone is off or out of battery, TekTrak can pinpoint its last known location. Each year, 20-30 per cent of phones are lost, and today losing your phone or tablet means losing much more than just the device. This service is a low-cost way for all phone users to protect themselves.”
TekTrak for Android is available now from the Android Market.
