Trinity Mirror Launches PaperPay App Pilot

Trinity Mirror has launched an iOS and Android app that enables Daily Mirror and Sunday Mirror readers to pre-pay for their newspapers and collect them using a mobile voucher.

Users can subscribe to the newspaper via the PaperPay app using a credit or debit card, Paypal or SMS payments, which could save them up to £60 a year, or choose pay-as-you-go, costing the same as the cover price. The app automatically renews your weekly subscription, or dips into your pocket when your balance drops below £1, but people who download the free app before 25 April will receive five free copies of the paper without having to enter payment detais. PaperPay can be used at 47,000 newsagents that have a PayPoint or Payzone terminal. These can be found on a map within the app.

Once the pilot is complete, the company says it will roll out the the app across further Trinity Mirror titles and license it for use by other publishers. This is the first in a series of apps, the Mirror has said, as the publisher moves towards innovative new offerings in mobile and digital.

New paying subscribers will be entered into a weekly prize draw to win £100.
