Wapple has used its Canvas platform to build and publish the Red Nose Day 2011 mobile site. Users accessing http://rednoseday.com from a mobile device are automatically redirected to the mobile site, where they are delivered functionality and content that is automatically optimised for the device they are using, whether that’s an Android, iPhone or other smartphone, feature phone, or other mobile device, including handheld games devices.
As well as getting all the latest information from Red Nose Day, including news and TV listings, visitors can donate direct from their mobile and show support for Red Nose Day by downloading wallpapers to customise their phones. They can also get fundraising ideas, sign-up for email communications, and use a ‘Sponsor Search’ feature that enables supporters to instantly find fundraisers and sponsor them from their mobile.
“We know from previous campaigns that mobile is playing an increasingly important part in the way that our supporters access our content and key messaging,” says Marcus East, head of future media and technology at Comic Relief. “As such, we recognised that we needed a mobile solution that would make it as easy as possible for our supporters to digest information about Red Nose Day and make key transactions in an environment optimised for mobile devices. Using Wapple’s technology, we are able to achieve this.”
