WATCH: Airbnb’s festive ad ‘Santastrophe’

Airbnb has unveiled its newest Christmas advertisement.

The festive campaign, titled ‘Santastrophe’, is part of the brand’s ongoing ‘Get an Airbnb’ platform.

Developed in-house, the campaign will run across TV, cinema, and social media in the UK, US, Canada, Australia, Germany, Mexico, and Brazil.

Narrated in the style of the classic poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas”, the ad features Santa Claus delivering presents to an Airbnb and a hotel. While he completes his mission seamlessly at the Airbnb, his attempt at the hotel is met with a series of challenges.

The company explained that the ad “plays on the childhood fear of Santa being unable to deliver presents on Christmas Eve.”

An AirBnb spokesperson stated: “With many families preparing to travel this holiday, this newest ad in our ‘Get an Airbnb’ campaign shows how staying on Airbnb is Santa friendly, with many homes featuring room for a tree or a fully functioning chimney.

“This spot was developed by our in-house creative team, playfully bringing to life how Airbnb makes holidays even more merry.”
