Weekly Highlights: House of Fraser, Barclays Buyit, TfL and More

To paraphrase classic teen movie Ferris Buellers Day Off, life in the mobile industry moves pretty fast. Theres so much going on that if you dont stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. For that reason, weve decided to round up the weeks biggest and best stories for your reading pleasure.

Theres been no shortage of big headlines this week. House of Fraser announced that mobile usage had actually exceeded desktop, which proved unsurprisingly popular. The addition of purchase functionality to Barclays Pingit, meanwhile, could prove to be a huge driver of adoption in the mobile payment space.

Its not all about breaking news, though. Kirsty Styles this week cast her eye over some of the key mPOS players, looking at what each is offering and what it costs. If youve ever wanted to know how to tell the umpteen platforms apart, its just the article for you.

I headed over to TfLs headquarters to get a first look at the forthcoming mobile-first redesign of its website, which currently draws 2m mobile users a month. Its an example of responsive design being applied where the traditional wisdom has long said it couldnt, and it looks and feels great to boot.

Weve also been posting articles from our recent print magazine on the site – from a look at gambling on mobile to a comparison of the finances of the GAFA gang. You can find it all these and more under the Featured Articles banner on the homepage – or you can read the mag in all its glory online here, or even subscribe to receive the print edition here.

Have a good weekend, and well see you on Monday.
