SAP Reveals Two Enterprise AR Apps for Smart Glasses

m100e1Enterprise application developer SAP has released two enterprise apps for use with Vuzix M100 Smart Glasses that utilise augmented reality to improve work processes.

Vuzix has been working with SAP to develop cutting edge AR apps that complement its Smart Glasses, with a focus on enterprise solutions for warehouse and field service industries. In support of the new apps, Vuzix will be shipping upgraded M100 Smart Glasses to SAP sales team members that are pre-loaded with the software.

The SAP AR Warehouse Picker is designed to enable hands-free mobility for warehouse staff, using visualisation and voice recognition to receive instructions via the M100 Smart Glasses on daily tasks without the need for a hand held scanning device. The app enables the glasses to scan bar codes, and can receive voice input for quantity confirmation, as well as using a QR code identity system for swift and secure login.

The SAP Service Technician enables field service technicians to access 3D visual enterprise models of workplaces, complete with instructions, all hands-free. The application features voice recognition, and enables users to call remote experts for additional assistance, with the glasses enabling the expert to see what the field technician can through the Smart Glasses.

“The launch of SAPs new applications for enterprise users demonstrates how the combination of our Smart Glasses and SAPs cutting edge software can deliver powerful tools that provide improved operating efficiency and ease of use for the operator,” said Paul Travers, president and CEO of Vuzix. “We have been working closely with SAP to develop Smart Glasses-based productivity applications for the industrial user base and look forward to assisting them with many successful implementations of their software around the M100. This is a huge untapped market and we look forward to being signing up customers.”
