Amazon is using Whole Foods to sell items out of car parks

Amazon Treasure TruckAmazon’s latest use of its Whole Foods Market subsidiary is to start selling products usually found on its eCommerce platform in the healthy supermarket chain’s car parks.

The latest use of the company’s Treasure Truck initiative, which has been in action since 2016, will see trucks pull up at Whole Foods locations across the US with special offers on specific items.

It works by Amazon selecting one item for the day that it is either ‘new, trending, local, or delicious’. The company then sends a text to those that are signed up to the Treasure Truck service informing them what item is on offer, and the user then purchases the item – if they want it – through the Amazon app before picking it up from the truck.

The first item to go on offer today was an Instant Pot Duo Mini 3 Qt. 7-in-1 Multi-Use Programmable Pressure Cooker, which was available at select Whole Foods locations.

Customers purchasing the pressure cooker were treated to $10 off a $40 purchase at Whole Foods, as well as recipes from food blogger and author Michelle Tam.
