Apple Pay Coming to Dominos, Starbucks and KFC in Next 12 Months

izettle-apple-pay.pngAs Apple extends the reach of its mobile payment app to Canada and Australia this week, Apple Pay VP Jennifer Bailey has revealed further roll-out plans for the service.

Speaking to Associated Press, Bailey said that Pays launch in Canada and Australia will initially be limited to American Express, because the firm acts as both card issuer and payment network operator, as opposed to Visa and Mastercard, which are issued by individual banks.

Also this week, UK banks Tesco and TSB are joining Apple Pay, and the service is expanding to another 100-plus card issuers, mostly smaller banks and credit unions, in the US.

Dominos Pizza has signed up to accept Apple payments in its stores before the end of the year. Meanwhile, Starbucks is running a pilot with an eye to a broader roll-out in 2016.

KFC is set to introduce Pay next spring, as is restaurant chain Chilis, which will be installing tablets for at-the-table payment, while Cinnabon will start accepting it at an unspecified point in the year.
