Barclays names Simon Groves as new global brand director

Barclays has named Simon Groves as its new Global Managing Director of Brand, Creative, and Media.
Groves joins the company from Virgin Media O2, where he spent nearly 25 years with O2.
Since 2021, Groves has spearheaded brand and marketing initiatives for the merged Virgin Media O2 as Director of Brand and Marketing.
His responsibilities encompassed overseeing creative campaigns, customer marketing, media strategies, sponsorships, and overall brand strategy.
Before this role, Groves served as Director of Brand and Marcoms at O2. His prior experience also includes being the Chief Marketing Officer at Tesco Mobile, a joint venture between Tesco and O2.
Groves began his tenure at O2 in 2000, following a three-year stint as a consultant at PwC.
In his new position at Barclays, Groves will report to former O2 colleague Nina Bibby. Bibby was appointed as Group Chief Marketing Officer at the bank last year after leaving O2 following the merger.
