LG has taken to the stage at CES to announce a partnership with LINE that will enable people to communicate with smart home appliances using the messaging app.
South Koreas LG sells a range of smart appliances, including fridges, cookers and washing machines, which can now be remotely controlled using LINE, or the company’s HomeChat app. CTO Scott Ahn said further deals with more OTT messaging services are on the way.
LG has also unveiled two wearable devices, the Lifeband Touch and Heart Rate Earphones, that work with the LG Fitness app on Android and iOS. They can also be synced with third party apps such as MyFitnessPal, Runkeeper or MapMyFitness.
