DC Comics launches its digital streaming service

DC Universe streaming serviceDC Comics has launched a digital subscription service giving fans in the US access to exclusive content from across the DC Universe.

The service features original live action and animated series, classic TV series and films, digital comic books, breaking news, a DC-centric encyclopaedia, access to merchandise, opportunities to connect with others, rewards, and contests.

“We launch a digital service that unites Super Heroes from every corner of the DC universe, from our most treasured films and comics to exclusive originals all-in-one place,” said Craig Hunegs, Warner Bros. digital networks president. “DC Universe stands out as a fan-first service in what is quickly becoming a crowded marketplace of consumer choices. The fan response has exceeded our wildest expectations and we’re excited to share this truly unique experience with everyone.”

The first exclusive original series to arrive on DC Universe will be Titans, scheduled for 12 October. This will be followed by series including Young Justice: Outsiders, Doom Patrol, Swamp Thing, Harley Quinn, and Stargirl.

To celebrate Batman Day, which took place on 15 September, fans will have access to more than 400 issues of Batman comics and an assortment of Batman live action and animated films and series for the month of September.

DC Universe is available on Android, iOS, Android TV, Apple TV, Roku, the web, and mobile web. The service costs $7.99 per month or  $74.99 annually.
