Digital media company RBmedia launches and makes noise with Audiobooks.com acquisition

Audiobooks.com (RBmedia)Audiobooks.com has been acquired by newly launched digital media company RBmedia, which has brought together eight brands in spoken audio and digital media distribution. The terms of the acquisition are unknown.

RBmedia, the launch of which has coincided with the acquisition, is backed by media and entertainment private equity firm Shamrock Capital. The launch brings RBmedia to consumers in 38 countries and brings together brands such as Recorded Books, HighBridge Audio, Tantor Media, ChristianAudio, W.F. Howes, and Wavesound.

Audiobooks.com boasts ‘more than 100,000 bestsellers and classics’ for subscribers. Its app is available on Android and iOS, as well as via Sonos, tvOS, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and in-car infotainment systems in GM, Jaguar, and Land Rover vehicles.
