Kiip has announced a partnership that will bring its reward-based ad model to drivers via Mojio, a device about to go live in North America for connecting your car to your smartphone.
Mojio plugs in to the OnBoard Diagnostic (OBD) port, located under your dashboard near the steering wheel and present in most cars produced after 1995. The in-car device connects with the Mojio iOS or Android app and helps its users to locate, monitor and control their car.
Kiips ad technology will be integrated into Mojio’s app platform, enabling its brand partners to offer reward points for things like meeting mileage goals or fuel efficiency targets. “If you leave for work at 6am instead of the usual 7 am,” Kiip CEO Brain Wong said as an example, “a brand like Starbucks can jump in and reward you with a free coffee for getting up early. This ability to recognise daily driving habits creates a whole new set of inventory in our rewards network for brands to reach consumers directly in their cars.”
The Mojio system can be pre-ordered today for use in the US and Canada, costing $149, and will be shipping in the next few months. App developers can also buy the developer kit and start building apps for the platform.
