Hamish Nicklin has left his job as UK managing director of AOL after just seven months to join the Guardian, taking up the newly-created role of chief revenue officer.

Nicklin is a former sales director at Google. In his new role, he will be responsible for Guardian News & Media’s advertising revenues, its jobs operation and its branded content division, Guardian Labs. He will also be responsible for building relationships with major clients and media agencies, and will sit on Guardian News & Media’s executive committee.

“The Guardian has an outstanding reputation for ground breaking journalism and innovative news products, making it one of the most exciting media brands in the world,” said Nicklin. “It’s a brand and an organisation that I have always admired and respected, so the opportunity to be part of that was simply too good to turn down and I am really excited to play a key role in its future.”

Just Eat
Just Eat has appointed Ben Carter as its UK marketing director. Carter joins Just Eat from online retail marketplace notonthehighstreet.com where he served as marketing director for the past two years. He has over 10 years’ experience working with some of the UK’s fastest-growing and most disruptive digital brands, including Betfair and Setanta Sports.

Carter said: “Just Eat has high and positive consumer awareness both as a food utility service but also as a food destination. As UK marketing director, I will be looking to build on this by establishing Just Eat as a true storytelling brand, whether it’s for our customers or the thousands of restaurant partners, many of whom are able to thrive in a highly competitive restaurant marketplace thanks to the scale, breadth and huge range of benefits offered by Just Eat.”

PushTECH
Mobile marketing firm PUSHTech has appointed Gerry Haag, and Arndt Rautenberg to its newly-formed Advisory Board. Haag was previously general manager, Europe, for Amazon Marketplace. He holds an M.P.E. from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and a Ph.D. in Biomechanics from the University of Tübingen, Germany.

Rautenberg was formerly the chief strategy officer at Deutsche Telekom. He holds a German degree in Business Administration (Diplom-Kaufmann) from WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management and from Georgetown University.
