PizzaExpress app enables diners to pay from their tables without waiting for bill

PizzaExpressPizzaExpress has become the latest UK restaurant chain to introduce a way for diners to pay for their meal without having to ask for the bill.

The new PizzaExpress app has been created with hospitality solutions company Flyt using its ‘pay at table’ technology, as well as Eagle Eye’s ‘integrated vouchers’ service.

The system works once the customer is seated, given a table number, and placed their order. Through the app, they are able to type in their table number, view the bill, pay, and then leave – without having to ask a waiter for the bill. The app also enables restaurant-goers to redeem offers with their voucher codes.

“We are always looking at ways we can improve our customers’ experiences and our new app will do just that,” said Timothy Love, senior marketing manager at PizzaExpress. “The ‘pay at table’ function by Flyt is perfect for those who would rather spend time eating our delicious pizza than sorting out the bill. By listening to our customers, we’ve understood what’s important to them and are introducing a more personalised service, including bespoke rewards. We don’t call it PizzaExpress for nothing.”

The app can be used across all of PizzaExpress’ over 470 restaurants. It follows both Wagamama, in partnership with Mastercard, and Barclays’ credit card arm Barclaycard, in partnership with Prezzo, launching similar waiter-less payment experiences in the past month.
