Snapchat unveils new AR innovations and content partnerships for 2024 Olympics

Snapchat has launched new augmented reality (AR) and content partnerships for the 2024 Olympic games in Paris.
As a result, the social media giant, is leveraging its AR Camera Kit technology to deliver a range of immersive experiences available through the official app of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and on the platform itself.

Featuring Olympic data feeds, International Olympic Committee (IOC) archival imagery, and more, the IOC has launched a series of AR Lenses to connect fans worldwide to the Games.
Meanwhile, Arcadia, Snapchat’s AR Studio, has teamed up with NBCUniversal to offer a suite of AR experiences aimed at Gen Z fans in the US.
These experiences bring users to the front row of the Opening Ceremony, provide personalised tune-in recommendations with real-time stats, and introduce Team USA athletes and their Bitmojis, including Paralympians.
Also, the technology giant announced its partnership with FMCG giant Coca-Cola, launching the world’s first AR vending machine.
Located in the athletes’ village and Coca-Cola’s international Food Fest, this machine, powered by a custom Snapchat AR mirror, offers photo ops, games, prizes and Coca-Cola’s refreshments.
Alongside, this, Snapchat is bringing creators to the Olympic Games in collaboration with NBCUniversal.
Notable personalities like LSU gymnast Livvy Dunne, reality star Harry Jowsey, professional streamer Kai Cenat, musical artist Enisa and professional gamer Duke Dennis will capture and share their unique experiences and stories from the Games.
They will cover key events, including the opening ceremony and competitions like Team USA Basketball, Gymnastics and Track & Field.
The news comes as Snapchat recently partnered with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) to revolutionise how millions of fans engage with and celebrate sports content ahead of this summer’s sporting events.
